SARAH SCHALEGER
Sarah was a lover of light and color, laughter and people; an optimist and believer in the power of healing via connecting with one’s essential core.
Trained in art, history, divinity and chaplaincy; Sarah was a storyteller, teacher, chaplain and guide. She delighted in the light and design of the natural world and brought it into her work. Sarah began using painting as a healing tool after a cancer diagnosis in 2001. Wresting with mortality deepened Sarah’s sense of trust in herself, in others, and in life.
Sarah found the practice of moving into the “flow state” via painting to be transformative. It allowed her to become sensitive enough to “tune in” to the life-giving energy, gifts, and capacities of people, places, animals and the universe at large. The result of Sarah’s process are commissioned and gallery paintings that radiate a gentle energy with the power to calm, energize and heal.
Her work reflects principles such as compassion, acceptance and strength—as part of her evolution of wrestling with evil, anger, wounding and fear. This work reflects Sarah’s process, and also proclaims that our power as human beings is to know that we are larger than our circumstances: that our spirits are indomitable and our beauty everlasting.
